Performing with Voices of Distinction

Sarah began her formal music training in 2003 with percussion lessons, first in her school’s music program, and then lessons at Zach Field Drums and Music. Throughout her elementary and high school years Sarah developed a musical repertoire of theatre, piano, drums, and of course, voice. In 2015, Sarah graduated from the University of Massachusetts: Boston, where she received a Bachelors of Fine Arts degree in Music Performance, with a concentration on voice.

A passionate and lively musician who loves to spread the joy of music to her students, Sarah’s teaching style is enthusiastic and dynamic; an important aspect of teaching is to keep students positively motivated and engaged in their education. She teaches a multitude of styles vocally, including classical, musical theatre, and jazz. She also specializes in music theory, helping all levels of student to better understand the intricacies of music and become better musicians. On top of voice, Sarah teaches piano, ukulele, and percussion with a specialized focus in auxiliary percussion. She is truly handy when it comes to teaching the tambourine, the hand drums, or the art of correctly timing your triangle.

As a teacher, one of Sarah’s biggest strengths in her versatility in working with different age ranges and levels. She approaches each student as the individual they are and is dedicated not only to teaching the musical matter but using her students’ outside interests to help them engage with music. These ways of educating help the student to not only understand, but form a deeper connection with music and learning, so that they feel valued and heard.
